From 12 months onwards not only does mobility increase, but so does cognitive development. The challenge of toys that have cause and effect are good choices, for example pop up toys. Increase their fine motor skills with stacking blocks, or toys such as peg boards that encourage hand-eye co-ordination and cognitive thought. Their receptive behaviour towards simple instructions like finding a specific puzzle piece develops language skills too.
