Building blocks and stacking toys are traditional wooden toys because they evoke memories and can be passed from generation to generation.

The concept of stacking has many benefits for children including promoting the development of spatial awareness and balance. Hand-eye coordination will improve as blocks are reached for, lifted and placed strengthening little fingers, hands and arms.

Physical concepts like cause and effect, force, velocity and gravity can be learnt too, and whilst little ones watch stacks created and fall problem solving  leads to critical thinking and cognitive flexibility. In other words the fundamental skills gained are plentiful and if you spend time talking, whilst playing, you can also increase social and language development too.
