Bigjigs Best Montessori Toys UK

Bigjigs understand the Montessori ethos which focuses on a child-centred approach to education, self-directed learning and exploration. There are some classics that stand the test of time simply because they provide free play and open ended learning styles. Take the Latches & Catches House as a prime example, where you are literally unlocking the learning potential! Featuring five different locks little ones gain an insight into real life skills through independent and interactive play.

The wonderful Fastening Frames are again designed to aid a key stage in childhood development – learning how to dress themselves. Each of the 6 frames are differently coloured and support learning various types of fasteners. Designed for children from 3 years upwards, the frames can increase confidence, concentration, patience and problem solving skills.

By promoting educational freedom, natural learning activity toys become a favourite resource which is returned to and ultimately will promote cognitive development.

Educational Montessori Toys

Let’s talk about getting little hands moving, twisting and turning can help to strengthen physical abilities. So look towards the Nuts & Bolts Tower where the nuts and bolts can be matched together and screwed into the correct location on the tower. However, this is also going to involve hand-eye coordination and problem solving skills to put together the right shapes and colours. Little ones can also transfer their colour recognition skills to the Sorter Box as the counters are also different shapes and colours and can be posted into the box. They also have numbers enabling number recognition and counting.

Whilst simple in their style, these Bigjigs Montessori toys support children’s holistic development offering learning through play that they won’t even recognise is happening!
