These bright and inviting wooden characters are based on the original illustrations from Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Browne. They enable little ones to reenact the story, in self-directed play and create new versions of their own during small world activities. The figure of Handa is also reversible, which means that she starts the story with a colourful and varied basket of fruit, but finishes her journey through the story with tangerines.

The pieces all have a nice flat base, making them sturdy and easy to stand for a variety of storytelling settings, mapping and sequencing activities.

This set includes Handa, Akeyo, an elephant, a giraffe, a zebra, an antelope, an ostrich, a monkey, a parrot and a goat.
